Vedic astrology reads it through twelve houses, each governing an area of life — the first for the self and body, the seventh for partnership, the tenth for career and standing, and so on — with the planets placed in them describing how each area tends to behave.
Reading it properly means more than listing placements. It means weighing dignity, seeing which planets aspect which houses, identifying the yogas formed by particular combinations, and above all reading the Vimshottari dasha sequence, which shows which planetary period governs your life now and which arrives next. A placement that has been quiet for twenty years becomes central when its dasha begins.
